Which is better for a wedding: porta potties or a trailer?
A restroom trailer is better for weddings over 100 guests, formal receptions and evening parties. Flushing porta potties are better for weddings under 100 guests, tight backyards and sites with no power. Both work when sized right; a short line matters more than the type.
| Flushing porta potties | Restroom trailer | |
|---|---|---|
| Best guest count | Under 100 | 100–200 per trailer setup |
| Needs | 4 × 4 ft each, no hookups | Drive-up level spot, 110V, hose |
| Inside | Flush, sink, mirror | Toilets, vanities, lights, mirrors |
| Fits a side gate | Yes | No |
| Cost | Lower | Higher |
How do you know if a trailer fits your site?
A trailer fits when the truck can back it onto a level spot with a straight path about 10 feet wide and no low branches or wires. It should sit within 100 feet of an outlet and a hose spigot. If any of those fail, a generator and water tank can be added, or flushing units used.
Can you mix a trailer and porta potties?
Mixing works well. For 150 guests, one two-station trailer plus two flushing units keeps lines short and costs less than a larger trailer. Put the trailer near the reception for guests and the flushing units near the bar or the far side of the yard.
